Ballast borne, non-indigenous species invasion represents a significant threat to aquatic ecosystems worldwide and environmental policy is developing rapidly to address this threat. Glosten has engineered ballast management solutions since 2000, bringing shipboard operations and design experience to vessel Owners, regulatory agencies, treatment vendors and science teams. Glosten Ballast Management System

The Glosten Ballast Management System (GBMS) is approaching the final stages of development. The software is targeted for commercial release in September 2008. GBMS assists shipboard personnel with ballast water planning and management, regulatory compliance, and reporting. Each installation of the software is configured by the user to mimic the host vessel’s ballast tank arrangement. The user, most likely a shipboard officer, enters all ballasting events into GBMS. The software provides on-screen feedback regarding the ballast management plan’s regulatory compliance.
