Glosten Supports Marinette Fisheries Survey Vessel
Marinette Marine Corp. has been awarded a $73.6 million contract to build a Fisheries Survey Vessel (FSV) for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Glosten is providing the naval architecture and design support. The ship will feature an advanced navigation system, acoustic sensors, and extensive laboratories. New technology will allow the collection of information on ecological factors affecting the status of fish and protected species and will provide a context for predicting the likely effects of climate change on living marine resources.
Olmsted Dam Project

Lock and Dam Nos. 52 and 53, located on the Ohio River between Paducah, Kentucky, and Cairo, Illinois, are being replaced with one of the largest civil works projects undertaken by the US Army Corps. The Olmsted project will consist of two 110-foot by 1200-foot lock chambers located along the Illinois shoreline. The dam will consist of five tainter gates, a 1,400-foot navigable pass, and a fixed weir.
The Glosten-designed catamaran lifting barge successfully completed a partial load dry run of setting a dam segment in July. In early August, the catamaran barge is undergoing load testing and the first dam segment will be set in place in the river. In addition to the design of lifting barge, Glosten has worked closely with the contractor, Washington Group/Alberici, to develop detailed lifting plans for the dry run, load test and segment placement.

The new ferry is under construction in Ketchikan at Alaska Ship and Drydock with a current scheduled delivery in the spring of 2011.
