To assist the marine industry in its evaluation of key environmental initiatives and emerging technologies, Glosten is currently working with SNAME’s Technical & Research Program to develop a marine vessel environmental rating system. The process to develop this system will be inclusive of key stakeholders, and result in metrics to assess a vessel’s environmental footprint over its entire life-cycle. We have worked with the US Coast Guard, oil companies, port authorities and environmental groups. We are leaders in the use of maneuvering simulation tools for safety assessments of ports and harbors with respect to the transport of oil by ship. Glosten has analyzed and designed escort practices for oil tankers around the world. The firm has provided engineering support for marine transportation of radioactive materials for clients such as Sandia National Laboratories, General Electric, Portland General Electric, and Foss Maritime.
