Tug.Master

Tug.Master is a PC Windows-based program produced by The Glosten Associates for education and training in the handling of the new technology, high power tugs used in escort and ship assist work. The program gives the operator a chance to experiment with and learn about the physics of driving a VSP or an ASD tug without the attendant risk of experimenting with a real vessel.

It is entirely graphical in its displays. There are windows showing bird’s-eye and end-on views of the tug as it maneuvers at the end of its hawser. Through another window, the operator can operate the pilothouse controls and set the wheel, levers, azimuth, pitch and engine speed. Text windows and tutorials help guide the operator through a range of exercises and describe the important points illustrated.
